Notes

1    [Identified as George and Mary's son since
        i) the only other candidate identified is the George Swindle, son of John Swindale and Sarah Dawson, baptised in 1774, who married Susannah Vipond.
ii) same ancestry in Ancestral File (3FC7) - whose compilers should have had more information !?

It is likely that George's mother moved away from Allendale after George's father died since his sisters are later found in Berwick-on-Tweed.

2    In 1851 their niece 'Ellener' Hall is staying with George and Elizabeth. This is presumably the daughter of George's sister, Sarah, who probably married a Joseph Hall.

3    There is a will in the Northumberland Record Office for James Dalton, miner, Upper Farneyside, Allendale for 12 Feb 1802.

4    I had originally listed a daughter, Margaret, born about 1816 in Walker, (Newcastle), Northumberland but have since been informed that this was a sister of son George's first wife.
