Son of Vipond Swindle and Mary Ann Mumberson, baptised on the 18th of August 1850 at Keswick, Cumberland

Married Mary Hannah Terry on the 14th of August 1875 at St Peter's, Brockley, Kent


Norman Wallace, baptised on the 5th of November 1876 at Holy Trinity, Newington, Surrey

George appears to have gone down to London as a young man, married and had his son there, before returning to his father's grocer's business (1881 census).  He sailed to America in 1888 and in 1891 he is absent from Keswick, but is possibly the George Swindell, Manufacturing Chemist from Keswick, boarding in London.

3    The marriage of George Swindle was registered in the third quarter of 1875 in Greenwich, London (FreeBMD 1d 1216). The marriage of Mary Hannah Terry is listed on the same page. George's wife is listed as Mary in the 1881 census.

4    Mary Pattinson has found 'George Swindle on a passenger list for 1888 to New York, a 38 year old grocer'. Furthermore 'Norman Keswick in 1891 but in the 1910/20/30 census for USA he is in Chicago with his wife Esther(Ester) and daughter Dorothy.
He emigrated in 1891 and became a citizen in 1897.Norman died in 1951 in Chicago.

5    Mary Hannah Swindle is staying with her brother in law William Lewis in Hackney, London, in 1891 and 1901 and dies there in the second quarter of 1917 aged 66 (Hackney, 1b, 535)
