Elsie, born 1899 at Newcastle

Died 1923

Living, aged 5,  with his grandmother, Jane Swindle, at Gatey Yard, Keswick at the time of the 1871 census. He must have moved to Newcastle sometime between 1893 and 1897. It is interesting that he continues to describe himself in 1901 as a lead miner - though there can have been little lead to mine at Gosforth!
