Son of Joseph Hall and Margery Thomson,  baptised on the 14th of December 1720, at St James, Hamsterley, County Durham.

Married Sarah Stobbs on the 28th of December 1749 at St James. (d. 23 Dec 1792 aged 69yrs. )

In memory of Jonathan HALL who d. 11 Jan 1778 aged 58yrs & Sarah his wife who d. 23 Dec 1792
aged 69yrs. Also of their 3 sons, dau & dau in law. John HALL d. 25 Apr 1835 aged 83yrs. He was a
self- educated man for many yrs a well known & esteemed contributor to a London literary publication
'The Gem' the merit of the poetical enigmas in which gained him 13 prizes the last being awarded in his
77th yr. Sarah d. 24 Apr 1841 aged 85yrs. Jonathan d. 28 Mar 1851 aged 91yrs. Ann HALL d. 17 Dec
1851 aged 78yrs her husband Joseph surviving the loss only till 5 Jan 1855 aged 88yrs. Funeral sermon

the church, which was, therefore, from 1758 to 1774, destitute of a regular pastorate. Mr. Jonathan Angus still officiated as deacon, but as he was now far advanced in years, his son, Mr. George Angus, was called to his assistance. His son-in-law also, Mr. John Hall, of Hamsterley, along with a colleague of the same name, at this time, sustained the office of deacon p188

(1778) Mr. Jonathan Hall, of Monkfield, died this year. He is said to have been a man of great piety, and holy conversation. He lived beloved, and died lamented by all who knew him. May his posterity, in these important points, ever resemble him ! His wife Sarah, who was brought to the knowledge of the truth, by Mr. Isaac Garner, died December 20th, 1792.
